Award Winning Ballencrieff
Ballencrieff Rare Pedigree Pigs is named
as the region’s top food producer in the coveted Great Taste Awards
The major trophy winners of the prestigious Great Taste Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of the food world, were presented at a glittering awards ceremony at Kensington’s Royal Garden Hotel. It was announced that Ballencrieff Rare Pedigree Pigs with their Pork Sausages won the Great Taste Award for the Best Scottish Speciality, sponsored by Scotland of Food and Drink.
Ballencrief rare breed pigs (Berkshire, Gloucester Old Spots and Saddlebacks) are very slow growing, enjoy being out of doors and are far superior in flavour. The company mix all their own feed with as much local produce as possible and use no GM products, no anti-biotics or additives. Their sausages are hand made from prime lean shoulder pork with no nasty bits or gristle.
The good old fashioned taste of Ballencrieff Rare Pedigree Pigs has received not one, not two but three awards for 'Great Taste'. The Guild of Fine Food retailers, a national body, awarded gold awards to Ballencrieff for their smoked and unsmoked bacon and silver for their premium pork sausages. Peter & Elma are delighted, as are their loyal customers, who already know the secret of Ballencrieff's succulent range of products. 'You can't beat the flavour from these old breeds for taste' commented Peter a comment with the range of expert judges who award Ballencrieff their awards, surely agree upon.
